Splinters Youth Centre, is based on the Heywood Site in Cinderford. The Centre provides a safe warm and welcoming place for young people to come, relax and have fun in their leisure time and engage in activities in a voluntary manner. Splinters offer young people new and exciting opportunities that will increase self-confidence, self esteem, and develop the young person’s personal and social skills in an informal way.

Splinters Youth Centre, prides itself on catering for all ages from 10 to 19 years old, and up to 25 years old when working with young people with disabilities. With a very successful intake of Year 6 and 7 over the years totalling approximately 120 young people per week and a good balance of 13+ accessing the centre, becomes clear that the young people enjoy attending, and as the young people become older, they take on a more active role in the centre, and have the opportunity to become a Junior Leader, whereby by they undertake a 10 week training course which includes, health and safety, child protection, accident reporting and much more, once this course is completed the young people help to run the Year 6 and year 7 clubs, supporting staff who volunteer their time in delivering activities. These sessions have has proven to be an excellent opportunity for many of the young people to gain accreditations, that have enhanced their CVs, given the young people more confidence  and helped aid the young people achieve economic well being through the knowledge and skills they have gained whilst being a Junior leader.

Splinter Youth Centre offers young people the opportunity to gain much recognised accreditations that enhance C.Vs, build on young people’s confidence and self esteem and help develop new skills. The Accreditations that are on offer and can be delivered and assessed by trained staffs that are part of Splinters are:

·      Youth Achievements, Bonze, Sliver, Gold and Platinum

·      D.of.E, Bronze , silver, and Gold

·      ASDAN Short courses that include, Work Experience, sexual health and peer education to Activity
