D of EWhats is D of E
The Dof E (or The Duke of Edinburgh's Award), is a programme of activities that can be undertaken by anyone aged from 14 to 25, regardless of personal ability.Dof E programmes can on average take anywhere between 1 year and 3/4 years to complete, depending upon the route taken, and around 275,000 participants are taking part in the Award Programme at any time in the United Kingdom.
It began in the United Kingdom and is popular in the Commonwealth. The Award is also run in other countries by the International Award Association.
How does the Award Work
The D of E Award's are split in to three levels bronze, sliver and gold, each award need you to complete four activities (five for gold)* Volunteering - helping someone, your community or the environment
* Physical - becoming fitter through sport, dance or fitness activities
* Skills - developing existing talents or trying something new
* Expedition - planning, training for and completing an adventurous journey
* Residential (Gold only) - staying and working away from home as part of a team
The length of time to complete each sesction depends on what level you are doing
The Best part of the D of E is you choose what you want to do, you can do projects, activities, experiences as long as you complete the above 4 sections.
