Welcome to Splinters

This session is a vibrate session with over  60 young people attending each week, The young people attending this session are Year 6  students from primary schools around Cinderford.

This session is ran on a voluntary basis by staff working at Splinters Youth Centre,  due to Funding restricts, The funds allocated to Splinters  are  aimed at supporting  the YSS’s  targeted age of 13-19 year olds and work that is outside this remit needs to be funding externally, which is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain.

One of the main reasons this session happens is not only to offer the year 6 Students the opportunity to become familiar with the Heywood site if they are going to become year 7’s at the school, but is to give older young people to opportunity to volunteer within the session whereby they plan, deliver activities for year 6’s, become good role models, and a friendly face around the school if they decide to become Year 7’s at Heywood.

The junior leaders in this session deliver activities ranging from arts and crafts, cooking, sport, competition, themed discos and much more.
